Back in December, I was lucky enough to find two seats on Etihad First Apartment from Abu Dhabi to London using American Airlines miles. I thought Mike and I could start our trip somewhere in the Middle East on the way back to Stockholm since AA program requires the same amout of miles. I've read a lot about Oman and since they have the beautiful Royal Opera House and the world's second largest chandelier which is inside the Al Qaboos Grand Mosque, I thought it was the perfect country to visit. And so it was, we stayed at the Al Bustan Palace, A Ritz Carlton Hotel and really enjoyed our short tour of Oman.

Our flight to Doha was not until 11:30 in the evening and luckily, we were able to have late check out from the hotel.

We arrived at the Muscat International Airport around 6:45pm and since we didn't have any checked in baggage and already had our boarding pass, we could go straight to the Plaza Premium Lounge after passing the security and immigration.

About an hour before departure, we headed to Gate 7 and after a few minutes, boarding started.

The aircraft (Boeing 777 300) was in a remote stand so we had to take a bus and as a consequence, I was also able to get a good photo of the aircraft.

Upon boarding, I was greeted by one of the flight attendants and was directed to my seat 2F which was located in the middle of the cabin. The business class cabin has a total of 42 seats with a 2-2-2 configuration.

A few moments later, another flight attendant came to us and offered us some drinks as well as some hot or cold towels. I chose a glass of lemon mint and a hot towel.

Mike on the other hand decided to have a glass of bubbly.

In the meantime, I decided to take some photos starting with the personal screen.

I can't complain about the very spacious legroom.

Moments later, we were handed the first class menu card which read as follows.

I also had time to take pictures of the Oryx Magazine and other reading materials.

Then it was time for some Arabic coffee which was served with some dates.

Since it was a short flight, meal service started as soon as the seatbelt sign was turned off. My meal consisted of:

Appetizer: Seasonal Salad
Mains: Halloumi, tomato and bell pepper tart; Shish tahouk
Dessert: Laduree Soyeux

For champagne, they had the Billecart Salmon Rose.

Tasha, the purser was actually from the Philippines so we had a little chat after the meal service.

The flight went very quickly and just before the cabin crew went to their seats for landing, Tasha gave us some Godiva chocolates which were very good. We landed at the Hamad International Airport at 11:46pm ahead of schedule which was impressive.

CONCLUSION

This was another flight which Qatar Airways should be proud of. The cabin crew were very friendly and the food tasted great. With only about 15 passengers in the cabin, they had more than enough crew to take care of us so I would say that the service was topnotch. The only slight flaw I could think of was that the butter was hard when it was served. Overall, a very nice flight. Shukran, Qatar Airways!
