CONCLUSION

As soon as our flight from Muscat to Stockholm was confirmed, I decided to have a look at the hotels in Abu Dhabi as our itinerary included along lay over in this beautiful city before our early flight to London. There were three hotels near the airport which have almost the same price range namely, the Ritz Carlton, Fairmont and Shangri-La. After reading some reviews from the Trip Advisor website, it became evident that the best choice was the Shangri-La Hotel with all the positive reviews it got. As soon as our taxi arrived at the hotel, we were greeted by the friendly staff. Honey, the receptionist from Myanmar, was very kind to help us with the check in process. And to make our stay memorable, she upgraded us to a garden view room. I told her that Abu Dhabi was the first city I have been to outside my own country, and that it felt so nice to be back here after 17 long years. She explained us everything about the room and needless to say, we loved everything about it specially that it was a few steps away from the pool and the private beach. Aside from the complimentary bottles of water and welcome fruits, they also had complimentary wifi which we really appreciated. The hotel offers complimentary bus to the Grand Mosque and by 4pm, we were on our way to visit the mosque with the world's largest chandelier and biggest carpet. We thought we would have our dinner in the city and be back at the hotel before sunset. When we got back to our room, a surprise birthday cake and birthday card were waiting for Mike. They have also made a turndown service which was impressive. The hotel has a policy that forbids guests to go to the beach after sunset so I asked one of the lifeguards if I could just go for a quick dip and was allowed without much problem. Lastly, we enjoyed visiting the souq and watching the boats on the canal inside the hotel complex before going to bed. We only have good things to say about this hotel specially the staff who took care of us and to Honey for making our stay so memorable. To all the staff of Shangri-La Hotel Qaryat Al Beri, Shukran!
